AUCHZürich Oerlikon First class free

Dance like nobody's Swiss.

AUCH is German for also. It's also a dance and art studio in Oerlikon, where open level actually means open level.

Friesstrasse 34, 8050 Zürich 6 min from Bhf Oerlikon 24 classes a week Founded by Anya Bila

Embarrassment runs adult bodies more than anyone admits. Class is where you put it down.

AUCH started in a rehearsal room in Oerlikon because Anya kept meeting people in Zürich who loved dancing and had nowhere unembarrassing to do it. Two rooms, sprung floor, no mirrors in the small one.

Inclusivity first

Not a slogan on a wall. Four pay-what-you-can places in every class, step-free access from the street, and teachers who say out loud what they are doing instead of assuming you already know.

Open level is real

When a class says open level it is built for a room that holds a first-timer and a professional at the same time. Nobody gets parked at the back to copy the row in front.

Art is work

Teachers are paid a fixed fee per class, not per head. Nobody has to fill a room to make rent, so nobody has to water down what they teach to keep you in it.

Come as you are

No uniform, no shoes for most classes, no mirror-first culture. Wear the thing you can sweat in. Bodies of every size, age and passport are already here.
